IMTMA holds the third Awareness Workshop on OTR in Rajkot
|
IMTMA in collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and MHI organized awareness workshops on 21 February, 2025 in Rajkot focusing on the notified Safety of Machinery and Electrical Equipment (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024 (OTR) by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI).
Mr. Mohit Janoiya, Joint Director and Scientist 'D' at BIS, gave a presentation covering the various aspects of OTR order 2024. He also urged industries to register with BIS which is the first step towards participating in process of adoption and certification of OTR Order 2024.
The sessions were highly interactive and several aspects regarding the implementation and certification of imported and domestic machinery and equipment were discussed and clarified.

Regional ‘VISION’ Conclave – West, was successfully held on 27-28 February, 2025, at Hotel Regenta Central Grand Exotica, Pune. The event brought together MSME leaders, industry experts, and stakeholders to align with ‘VISION’ objectives and the strategic roadmap of ‘MISSION 2028’.
The Conclave served as a vital platform to engage, orient, and empower MSMEs, ensuring their pivotal role in driving innovation and sustainable growth within the Indian machine tool industry. Insightful discussions, interactive sessions, and expert insights enriched the experience for all attendees.

IMTMA's Women Empowerment Initiative
|
|
|
We are pleased to share the successful conclusion of the 4th edition of IMTMA's Women Empowerment Initiative, and the first programme organised in Pune, held from January 6 to March 4, 2025, at the IMTMA Technology Centre, Pune.
This 8-week intensive training programme, sponsored by Alex Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd., aimed at equipping 17 talented women engineers with industry-relevant skills in design and manufacturing of special-purpose machines. The participant group included 14 engineering graduates and 3 final-year students. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the programme successfully empowered participants with practical experience, enhancing their industry readiness and fostering innovation in the manufacturing sector.
IMTMA remains committed to driving women’s empowerment in engineering and look forward to expanding this initiative further.

Monthly Machine Tool Orders (January 2025)
The total value of machine tool orders in January was 116.15 billion yen. This decreased 18.8% compared to December 2024 and marked the first month of month-on-month decline in two months. However, this figure represented an increase of 4.7% compared to the same month of the previous year and marked the fourth consecutive year-on-year growth.

Turnaround expected in second half of 2025
Frankfurt am Main, 4 March 2025. – Orders received by the German machine tool industry in the fourth quarter of 2024 were 7 percent down on the previous year's figure. Orders from both Germany and abroad fell by similar amounts: 7 percent and 6 percent, respectively. In 2024 as a whole, incoming orders declined by 19 percent. Domestic orders were 9 percent down on the previous year, while orders from abroad fell by 24 percent.

In the fourth quarter 2024, the index of machine tool orders, compiled by the Studies Dept. & Business Culture Centre of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, showed an 11.4% increase compared to the period October-December 2023. The absolute value of the index was 78.7 (base year 2021=100).

Manufacturing Technology Orders Post Strongest January Since 2022 U.S. MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY ORDERS Press Release
|
McLean, Va. (March 10, 2025) — Orders of manufacturing technology, measured by the U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders Report published by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology, totaled $357.3 million in January 2025, a 29.8% decline from December but a 5.7% increase from January 2024. Compared to an average January, the value of orders placed in January 2025 was 16.2% higher, making it the highest January since 2022. However, the number of units was 12.2% lower than the average January – the lowest level for any January since 2016.

Purchasing Managers Index for Manufacturing - UK
|
February saw the Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for manufacturing, produced by J P Morgan using the data from S&P Global, improve again to stand at 50.6. The general trend was to see a higher reading than in January but with a few notable exceptions, including the UK, where the PMI fell to 46.9 (the lowest since December 2023).

BIEC infrastructure upgrades for improved accessibility
|
Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) has made key infrastructure upgrades to enhance its exhibition and event facilities.
A new exhibition space has been added to increase capacity and improve the experience for exhibitors and visitors. The food court has been expanded with additional seating and a wider selection of cuisines.
To improve connectivity, BIEC has constructed a pathway linking directly to the Madavara metro station, which recently began operations. This upgrade provides easier access for exhibitors and visitors.
