From IMTMA Desk

Dear Members,

IMTMA began the Year 2023 on a positive note with its flagship IMTEX, Tooltech & Digital Manufacturing concluding successfully and creating a new benchmark. ‘A Comprehensive Report on Indian Metalworking Machine Tool Industry 2023’, highlighting the current demand trends in the machine tool industry and a coffee table book titled ‘The Navigator’ tracing IMTMA’s 75 years journey was released during the exhibition. IMTEX while charting a path for technology development and business opportunities, also sets the stage for young talents to explore manufacturing, as a career option. This acts as a harbinger for developing an ecosystem for startups in manufacturing.

With the recent announcements made in the budget on ‘Green Growth’, India is embarking on a net-zero carbon emission journey. The various initiatives proposed in renewable energy, automotive, infrastructure, railways, etc. would provide the machine tool industry to think of new avenues and explore them in the long run.

Also, estimates from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation show that India’s industrial production increased by 4.3% year-on-year in December 2022. The country’s manufacturing PMI recorded 55.4, according to S&P Global India, indicating that the manufacturing industry’s health remained robust. India may face some momentary hurdles due to external factors. It is advisable to step forward with some vigilance.
