2nd Symposium on Smart Manufacturing
To understand and address the real-time application and benefits of Smart
Manufacturing, IMTMA is organizing the 2nd edition of 'Symposium on
Smart Manufacturing - Evolving the Factory of the Future, on 24-25
February 2017 at BIEC in Bengaluru. The symposium is a combination of
technical presentations, case studies, interactive sessions, and panel
discussions with industry experts. Automation Buzz 2017, a display of a
wide range of automation products, equipment and smart manufacturing
solutions will be held concurrently.
Delhi Machine Tool Expo 2017
IMTMA will organize the second edition of the Delhi
Machine Tool Expo at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 10
to 13 August 2017. The expo will address the manufacturing
requirements of the Original Equipment Manufacturers
(OEMs) of various industry sectors in Tier II and Tier III
cities of North India.
Skill Development
FINISHING SCHOOL IN PRODUCTION ENGINEERING: Enhancing Productivity in Machining
27 February - 25 March 2017, Bengaluru
IMTMA is organizing an exclusive hands on course “Finishing
school in Production Engineering” to enhance skill sets of
engineers and supervisors from manufacturing industries. This
course is of 4 weeks duration and is totally practical oriented with
Hands on practice in production CNC machines, CAD/CAM,
Metrology equipment, Tooling and work holding systems and
other accessories.
Machine Tool Design – RAPID
27 February - 8 April 2017, Pune
IMTMA is conducting a course that will introduce students to
design fundamentals more focused on machine tool design. A
complete design of CNC Turning center will be carried out from
concept to finish. Pre-process activities like design input,
conceptualization, machine specification, 3D modeling of parts,
sub-assemblies and final assembly using popular design CAD
tools and preparing the final manufacturing drawings in par with industry standards, etc. will also be
covered.

Events Organized
International Seminar on Machining Technologies
Coinciding with IMTEX, IMTMA organized an
International Seminar on Machining Technologies on
25 January 2017. The theme of the seminar was
"Powering Manufacturing Growth and
Competitiveness". Around 400 delegates from a wide
section of the metal working industry attended the
seminar. Eighteen parallel concurrent sessions were
held throughout the day covering key technology areas and their applications relating to metal cutting.

Hands on training – CERTIFIED QUALITY ENGINEER
6 March - 18 March 2017, Bengaluru
Certified Quality Engineers are needed to interpret variations in
manufacturing process, which is inevitable due to machine tools, cutting
tools, work holding and fixturing, materials, gauging, etc. Keeping this in
view IMTMA is organizing an exclusive 2 week hands-on training focusing
on various methods used to achieve quality to highest standards.

IMTEX 2017 & Tooltech 2017
Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association's (IMTMA) flagship exhibition "IMTEX 2017 & Tooltech 2017" held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru concluded on 1 February 2017. The exhibition attracted a footfall of 75,440 visitors. Many exhibitors closed deals and bagged good business orders. Orders worth Rs. 1,670 Cr and enquiries to the value of Rs. 18,989 Cr were generated during the exhibition. Compared to IMTEX 2015 & Tooltech 2015 the booked orders have shown an increase of 16%, whereas the generated enquiries increased by 21%.

Celebrating a Decade of Excellence
BIEC has completed 10 years. The milestone was celebrated with a commemoration programme on 28 January 2017.
BIEC is the realization of Naoroji Pirojsha Godrej's vision and its 10 year journey was displayed for the dignitaries in the form of images and a short film at Experience Zone in BIEC's 'Conference Centre.
A commemoration programme celebrating BIEC's 10 years also took place. The celebration was presided over by Shri R.V. Deshpande, Hon'ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Infrastructure,Govt. of Karnataka.
Dr. Andreas Gruchow, President, UFI, Mr. Tarun Das, former Chief Mentor, CII and Founding Trustee, Ananta Aspen Centre, and Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej, Chairman, Exhibitions - IMTMA, et.al.
On this occasion the 'BIEC Coffee Table Book was released. As a homage to the industrial visionary Naoroji Godrej, a short film was also screened for the dignitaries.

International Buyer Seller Meet
For the first time at IMTEX an International Buyer
Seller Meet was jointly organized by Engineering
Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC) and
IMTMA from 26 to 28 January 2017 which saw
participation from 57 international buyers from 19
countries such as Czech Republic, Germany, Russia,
Indonesia, UK and USA, amongst others. B2B
meetings were arranged between the buyers and
many of the Indian machine tool and accessories
manufacturers Viz. Ace Designers, Grind Master
Machines, Trishul Machine Tools, Jyoti CNC
Automation and Wendt India, to name a few. Some of the buyers also visited a few manufacturing
facilities of machine tool and accessories companies in and around Bengaluru.

i2 Academia Pavilion
Forty academic institutions from across India including 6 IITs participated in the i2 Academia Pavilion
during IMTEX 2017. Around 12 academic institutions initiated collaborations with 28 industries. The
first prize was bagged by IIT, Kanpur while Sastra University, Thanjavur and SSN College of
Engineering, Chennai shared the second prize. Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad won the
third prize. NMAM Institute of Technology, Udupi and PDPM Indian Institute of Information
Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur were awarded consolation prizes.
